First offroad challenge
on 2016-04-13 in Slovakia, Hungary, Romania
The first couple of nights were very comfortable, which is why it was about time to pull out our tents and check out our equipment for the first time. Our new grill, the new Heimplanet tent as well as the new sleeping bags all turned out to be great choices. Everything worked great which is why we were able to really enjoy our first night under the clear night sky. Only Bastis Africa Twin became incredibly tired during this night and fell over during the night right next to Denis bike.
We also had no problems finding a camping spot the next day. It was a little further off the road than before, but everyone including Daniel managed to get their bikes up the hill to a nice spot. The location was perfect and we immediately started to set up our grill. Later it started to drizzle which was fine for us but as it turned out not so good for Daniel since the tent he borrowed from Denis was leaking. Therefor Daniel had to fight with water getting into his tent.
The next morning we realized that the rain had turned our path to the street into a difficult mud path. Getting out of this misery was a team effort, because everybody had to push and pull to get everyones bike through the mud. Daniel experienced for the first time what it means to ride with us three. Going back is never an option, the choice of tires and bikes are also no excuse and we stick together up to the bitter end. It took us about 2 hours for the two kilometers back to the road and every bike kissed at least once the ground. Damages: a broken break lever, a cracked case and headlight as well as some small scratches... all on Daniels bike.
