Looking for a small detour

on 2017-01-30 in Singapore
After hours of getting on different buses, going through checkpoints and taking different subways to get to the city center we finally arrived at our hotel in Singapore. It took just over 4 hours to get from our hotel in Malaysia to our hotel in Singapore for just 30 kilometers...
In the evening we meet with Leslie another Africa Twin rider who had sent us a Facebook message a couple of days before. He invited us for dinner and we had a pleasant conversation about the bikes, our journey and our experiences all around. We made plans to go visit the most interesting sights of Singapore the next day.

We met around noon the next day at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and started our sightseeing tour off by going to the Cè La Vi roof top bar on the famous hotel. Since the infinity pool can only be used by guests of the hotel we could not enjoy the view from the water. Nevertheless we did enjoy the marvelous view over this modern city. We shared a beer on what felt like the roof top of the city. The view over the famous racetrack, the park Gardens by the Bay and onto the ocean was breathtaking and the amount of anchored container ships was staggering. It was a view we will not forget in a long time. Our sightseeing tour took us mostly around the Marina Bay Sands hotel since Leslie told us there was not much more to see other than tons of different malls. If we had been accompanied by female companions we would probably still be dragged from store to store, close to starvation... :)
Every night around 8 pm is a laser show at the Marina Bay Sands hotel. And we made sure that we would not miss it. Even though we had expected it to be a bit more spectacular we were still impressed by the light and sound effects. We enjoyed another cold beer together with Leslie who had kept up with us wandering around the entire day.

Like we had heard many times before Singapore is a very clean city. More so than any other city that we have been to in Asia. The fine for throwing garbage on the ground is almost 300 $ and we could tell that this had a drastic effect on the waste in the city. We think the cleanliness can be compared to Munich and we think it is nice to know that we do not need these high fines to keep our streets clean.

The next day we left the hotel early since we knew we had a long journey back to Malaysia ahead.
