We had planned to continue towards Chicago after seeing the Niagara Falls. We packed up our bikes and decided to try and find a parking spot closer to the falls. Even though our hotelier said it might be difficult to find a parking spot we headed out, just to find ourselves returning after half and hour without having any success. Paying over 20 $ for parking was no option for us. Luckily we had a really nice hotelier and therefore were allowed to park for our sightseeing tour.
The weather was great and and watching the falls was more than impressive. We decided to skip the boat tour since it looked like all you could see from below was a white wall of water that would swallow the boat up. After having walked along the edge and having taken dozens of pictures we decided to head back to our bikes.
Just before we decided to leave we took a last look on our phones, Fabi had texted us that he would soon be in Canada as well. He said he would meet us in about 10 minutes at the hotel and so we decided to wait for the two of them. As fate would have it they managed to get in line at the slowest border guard. That's why it took a bit longer to meet back up and obviously we had to exchange some stories as soon as we got back together. When we all looked at the time Denis and Basti realized that it was to late to get going and decided to stay for another night.
In conclusion: Packing everything up, loading up the bikes, change into riding gear, unsuccessful attempting to find a parking spot, back to the hotel, going sight seeing in full riding gear, back to the hotel, taking everything of the bikes and moving back into the same room. We could not have planned it any better... luckily we are quite good by now laughing about ourselves.
We found out later that it was more than worth it to stay another night, because we were able to experience an incredible firework for the queens birthday at one of the most beautiful sceneries this night. What a spectacular experience!
The next day Basti and Denis tried once again to pack up and leave. This time they were successful and so they left Fabi and Steffi in Niagara Falls where they would continue to try to figure out a way to get Steffi her own two wheels. In the east of the United States it had turned out to be quite impossible to get a bike registered and insured as a foreigner without a working visa.
In the meantime Basti and Denis found out that this part of Canada did not differ to much from the United States. But we knew that these 390 kilometers and a big tourist town are not the best places to judge a country with the size of over 4 million acres.
Later that evening we already arrived at the border to the United States and a couple of minutes later we continued our journey through Michigan.
